Title EIA voted best airport in Iraq
Content The Cairo based International Cairo Conference for Leadership (ICCL) this week voted Erbil International Airport as ‘Best Airport’ in Iraq at an awards ceremony in the Egyptian capital, Cairo.

Each year the Leadership Conference gives recognition to personalities and institutions who, it believes, have set new standards in public service. At the awards ceremony personalities and organizations from across the Middle East and North Africa were honoured.

Receiving the award on behalf of EIA - Airport director General said :
“ It is an honour to receive such an award. In the past EIA has received awards, notably in 2012 when EIA was voted ‘best small airport’ across emerging markets. But to receive an award in Cairo from the ICCL is a great honour and one we are proud of.
EIA continues to recover following the blockade of 2017 and 2018, and we are looking forward to a busy summer season as passenger traffic returns to pre blockade levels and grows even further. We are in the midst of some major projects at EIA.
Soon the travelling public will be able to appreciate revamped bathroom facilities throughout the terminal and they will start to notice the major landscaping project that is underway. Planting is set to start in May in phase one of the project. “

In 2018 , despite the blockade, 1,533,863 passengers arrived or departed, Erbil International Airport. On average 4,741 passengers use one of the 24 different airlines serving EIA, flying to 17 different countries and 31 cities.”
